A couple afternoons ago, I had nothing to do, so I took the subway to Taipei Main Station, where I have never "xia che"'d before. (Gotten off the train.) I did as I usually do when I am in an unfamiliar place. I walk down a busy street until I find an interesting-looking building. Then I walk toward that interesting-looking building to find out what it is. Then hopefully by the time I've found out what it is and maybe gone inside, another interesting building catches my eye and then I walk there.
As I was walking, the an interesting-looking building caught my eye, so I decided to over there and check it out, see what the name of the building was. It was the National Taiwan Museum, and it sits right beside a beautiful park called the 2/28 Peace Memorial Park. The park has an amphitheater, three gorgeous gondolas (you can see them below), and a tall, pointy fountain that had little stepping stones over a pool of water.
Ended the night with a JASMINE TEA MCFLURRY.

As all of you know, China (and more specifically, Taiwan) is a big part of my heritage. My mother was born in China but raised in Taipei, Taiwan. (FYI, my father was born in Philadelphia but raised in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. So kind of the same.) All of my mother's immediate family still resides in Taipei: my grandparents, my aunt, my uncle, their children and their children's children. I'm going to Taipei this summer for seven full weeks (from May 28-July 15) to live with them, become familiar with their Taiwan lifestyle and finally learn to speak some Mandarin.
