That was really a close one. You'd think after all the planes I've taken in my life, I would be down with double-checking my departure time weeks in advance. Oops. Once, my mom took me to the airport when my flight was really the next day. That was annoying (and stupid), but at least I didn't miss my flight. What would I have done if I had missed my flight to Taipei??!
Well, thanks Dad, for asking me to send you my itinerary. If I hadn't, I probably wouldn't have noticed, and I would definitely be screwed.
So, to bring!
I'm nervous but really excited. Hope my mom and I don't get on each other's nerves. At least not too soon.
I can't wait to be there! Maybe my next post will be from Taipei?
Love, Kim
As all of you know, China (and more specifically, Taiwan) is a big part of my heritage. My mother was born in China but raised in Taipei, Taiwan. (FYI, my father was born in Philadelphia but raised in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. So kind of the same.) All of my mother's immediate family still resides in Taipei: my grandparents, my aunt, my uncle, their children and their children's children. I'm going to Taipei this summer for seven full weeks (from May 28-July 15) to live with them, become familiar with their Taiwan lifestyle and finally learn to speak some Mandarin.
